What drives the hot springs and geysers all over Yellowstone? A volcanic. In fact, that is just what Yellowstone is. Yellowstone is considered to be the largest super volcano system on the continent and is still classified as being an active volcano. The entire park resides in the caldera, or cauldron like basin, created by the last violent eruption. Recent earthquake activity in the park has some speculating a major eruption is imminent. The red-orange of this colorway reminds us of the liquid magma just below the surface.
